Janice Marie (Wagner) Story

A wonderful woman passed away on May 7, 2023. Janice Marie (Wagner) Story was born on Sept. 14th, 1936, at her grandmother’s home in Mustang, Oklahoma.

She grew up most of her life on a farm in north Yukon, Oklahoma. When she was in high school, they moved into town to a newly built home. She attended Yukon Public Schools, where she was active in varsity basketball and FFA. While there, she became an FFA princess.

Janice met the love of her life, Dale Story, at 66 Bowl in Oklahoma City, while bowling in a couple’s league on different teams. They fell in love and married on June 11, 1960. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1962 and into their family home.

Janice became a stay-at-home mother, so she’d be available for Sandy, Mike and Pam. She volunteered at their schools, coached teams and did anything else that was needed. Later, she watched Mike’s and Pam’s children instead of having them go to daycare. She was always available to her three children, eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Sandy (Drew) Vandiver and Pam (Mark) Walker; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim Wagner and Jerry Wagner and his wife Joyce. She also had many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Avis Wagner; husband, Dale Story; son, Mike Story; grandson, Christopher Mustain; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Wagner.

She will be greatly missed by all.

Janice’s life will be honored with a public viewing on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary, with burial to follow at the Yukon Cemetery.
