It is with great sadness that the family of Laverne (Vern) Earl Worden, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on February 8, 1932 to Earl and Marie Worden. He was the oldest of five children.
After graduation from Ortonville High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was in the Korean War conflict. He was discharged from the USAF in 1954.
Vern married Virginia Rogers and they moved from Michigan to Yukon, Oklahoma in the 1970’s. She preceded him in death in 2006. Vern worked in the office supply industry for 40+ years, and SP Richards was the company he retired from.
Vern married Chris in 2007 and she survives him. Also preceding Vern in death are his parents, his brother Duane Worden, and his sister Maxine Gatzmyer.
Surviving Vern are his wife Chris; his sister Jeanette Frady of Waterford, Michigan; his brother Roger Worden and wife Shila of Lenexa, Kansas; stepson Todd Mann and his family; as well as many nieces and nephews. Vern leaves behind many special friends and his beloved dog Chloe.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 1500 W. Vandament, Yukon, OK. Vern will be honored by a USAF Honor Guard.
