OKLAHOMA CITY – A teenager was killed this week after being thrown from a speeding vehicle during a rollover crash near Lake Overholser.

Oklahoma City Police responded about 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 19 to a single-vehicle traffic collision in the 9000 block of S Overholser Road at N County Line Road.

“The driver was ejected as the vehicle rolled,” Oklahoma City Police MSgt. Gary Knight said. “He was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve (in the road).”

Eduardo Maldona, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the wreck. His identity was released Wednesday.

A female passenger was taken to OU Medical Center for treatment of “significant” injuries sustained in the wreck, according to Knight.

Police will not know if alcohol use contributed to the cause of Monday’s deadly crash until results of a blood test are leased as part of the investigation, he added.
