Twenty-three teams competed in the Yukon Fire Department’s 11th annual golf tournament.
Members of Yukon Firefighters Local 2055 presented their benefit tournament June 23 at Earlywine Golf Club in Oklahoma City.
Due to the support and participation of 31 sponsors and 92 golfers, more than $6,500 was raised.
“Funds will be used for community projects and some items that our firefighters need around the station,” YFD Corp. Jeremy Goodrich said.
Other Yukon Local 2055 members helping coordinate the tournament were Sgt. Brent Weaver, Sgt. Chris Allbritton and Corp. Justin Gerads.
Goodrich thanked local community businesses for helping make the YFD golf tournament a success.
“Without hole sponsors, it would not happen,” he pointed out.
Businesses donated lunch for the golfers and door prizes like golf bags and a TV. Cash prizes were awarded for first, second and third-place teams.
“This year was great,” Goodrich summarized. “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
“We had a few challenges because the course clubhouse was under construction and rain hit – for the first time during the tournament – on the last three holes.”
This was the first time the YFD golf tournament was played at Earlywine.
Yukon firefighters look forward to returning June 21, 2024, when they’ll be able to enjoy the new clubhouse.
“We’re also going to work really hard at bringing back the famous ‘Yukon Fire Brats’,” Goodrich added. “We’re looking forward to a great turnout next year. Hopefully it will be bigger and better!”
