As the PGA wrapped up the fourth major tournament of the year, The Open, many golfers are itching to get back on the greens and play a round themselves.

Yukon’s golfers are in luck as Yukon’s Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 41st Annual Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 8 starting at 8 a.m. at Crimson Creek Golf Course in El Reno.

The four-person scramble raises money to assist with the Chamber’s operating costs and scholarships.

In 2022, the annual golf tournament saw 28 teams.

This year, Yukon Chamber CEO Pam Shelton said she expects between 30-32 teams to participate.

“Not only is [the 41st Annual Golf Tournament] a fundraising event, but it also is a very social event for members to visit and enjoy everyone’s company,” Shelton said on the event.

Shelton continued to say that this year’s goal is to raise $20,000, in comparison to last year’s $15,000 raised.

Players can rest assured that they won’t leave empty handed as the tournament’s winners can win cash prizes, assorted golf items, and a few surprises that the Yukon Chamber has up their sleeves.

A committee was formed and is responsible for securing and organizing teams and swag, along with planning and setting up for the event.

The committee will be headed by Angelique Morton, with support from Dr. Kenica Thompson and Jarrid Wright.

Shelton said the Yukon Chamber of Commerce just started promoting the event and are waiting for sponsors to begin signing up.

She said a variety of sponsorships are available, depending on the various budgets of the members.

Cost is $500 for teams and $140 for individuals. Hole sponsorships are $100 each.

Premier sponsor levels range from $300 to $850.
