EL RENO – Students from Yukon’s St. John Nepomuk Catholic School in Yukon recently helped out at The Lord’s Harvest in what founder and director Nikki Pruitt called a “wonderful blessing.”

St. John Nepomuk Catholic School students Palmer H., Damien R., Asher F. and David D. scrub pallets at The Lord’s Harvest in El Reno.

The Lord’s Harvest is an El Reno food ministry founded and operated by Pruitt, her family members and community volunteers.

The St. John’s students helped stock shelves, unload trucks and scrubbed pallets used to stack food items. Organizers asked that only the first names and initials be used to identify the students.

Pruitt said the volunteer group like St. John’s students allows other staff members and volunteers to work on other areas. The Lord’s Harvest offers nine different food programs for its “guests,” as Pruitt refers to those who get assistance from the nonprofit.

“The group from St. John’s scrubbed the walk-in cooler, bagged candy, worked on food cans, barcoded food items, organized the walk-in cooler and helped structure our emergency food pantry,” Pruitt said. “All this helps us to enhance our programs.”
