Norma Lee Bucknam Isley, 91, died peacefully on August 17, 2023 at the BeeHive Homes of Glenpool. She was born on August 27, 1931, in Guthrie, OK to Lawrence Alvin and Leona Pearl Jernigan Bucknam.
Norma grew up in Coyle, OK. She married Hurshel Ryburn McCullough on August 7, 1948 and graduated from Coyle High School, Class of 1949. From this union, two sons, Hurshel Ryburn McCullough Jr, and Delbert Eugene McCullough were born.
She later married Arlie Elwin Isley on April 15, 1978 in Yukon, OK where they made their home. They worked and met at AT&T where they both retired on the same day in 1987.
Norma was a loyal and active member of the Yukon Church, and WMU (Women’s Missionary Union). She loved serving in her church by primarily working with the children and in hospitality. Also known as Grammy, she cherished spending time with family, sewing, traveling, fishing, feeding the ducks at the Yukon City Park and visiting the birds and animals at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband Hurshel Ryburn McCullough, her husband Arlie E. Isley, her sister Geraldine Bucknam Clark, her son Delbert McCullough, her granddaughter Kristen McCullough Bunce, and her great-grandson Thomas Speligene.
She is survived by her children: Hurshel Ryburn McCullough Jr. (Jana McCullough) of Oklahoma, and Kelly Isley Benjes (Skip Benjes) of Arizona; her grandchildren: Jaime McCullough Speligene (Phillip Speligene) of Georgia, Linzie McCullough of Oklahoma, Doug Bunce of Oklahoma, Britt McCullough Hill (Jake Hill) of Oklahoma, Carson McCullough (Jordyn McCullough) of Oklahoma, and Brody McCullough of Oklahoma; her great-grandchildren: Kauri, Parker and Jolie Bunce of Oklahoma, Mady, Lucie and Dustin Speligene of Georgia, Natalie and Ryburn Hill of Oklahoma, as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
Visitation and viewing will be held Monday, August 21, 5:30 pm – 8 pm at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, OK.
A service in her remembrance will be held at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 22 at 1:30 pm, with Interment following at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, OK.
