EL RENO – A new featured attraction at the 2023 Canadian County Free Fair was the Ice Cream Freeze-off Contest.

There were five participants with six homemade ice cream entries.

The Ice Cream Freeze-off Champion was Marbi Symes with her butter pecan ice cream.

She received a trophy sponsored by Ken Carpenter Auction and Realty. Carpenter, a Canadian County Fair Board member, presented Symes with the trophy for winning the competition.

All Ice Cream Freeze-off participants were required to bring their ice cream on ice or in an ice cream maker.

Since no raw eggs were allowed, competitors could only use cooked custard, pasteurized eggs, and pasteurized milk.

There were four categories: Vanilla, chocolate, chocolate with other ingredients, and any other flavor.

Contest judges were Canadian County Commissioners Dave Anderson, Tracey Rider and Tom Manske.
