A “family fun zone” and Shop Yukonopoly prize drawings will be featured during Yukon Main Street’s Fifth Annual “Cruise-in for a Cause.”
The Yukon Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors have planned a copious quantity of family friendly offerings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Yukonopoly Yard off N 4th and Route 66.
This will be among featured attractions at Yukon Main Street’s Fifth Annual Cruise-in for a Cause.
“We will have a mini-obstacle course, inflatable bounce house, fire truck, and archery lanes,” Chamber Ambassadors’ Chair Lynn North confirmed this week. “The archery will be pointed away from the children’s activities.”
The family fun zone also will feature a petting zoo, leopard Appaloosa from Express Ranch and other carnival games.
Speaking of games, prizes will be awarded Thursday night in a contest that highlights Yukon’s most popular board game.
Sales of the Yukonopoly game, which costs $30 each, support the Yukon Chamber Ambassadors’ community service projects.
Yukonopoly is patterned after the iconic Monopoly table game, with a unique Yukon twist.
Yukon-area residents have through Wednesday, Sept. 20 to enter the Ambassadors’ “Shop Yukonopoly” contest by shopping at the 40 retailers featured on the game board.
People also may enter by scanning a QR code on the game board or stopping by the Yukon Chamber office, 10 W Main – Suite 130.
The Shop Yukonopoly prized drawings will begin about 7 p.m. Thursday at the Yukonopoly yard.
“The grand prize is a dual grill with propane and charcoal, along with a side burner,” North said. “We’ll also draw winners for two 40-yardline tickets to the OU-Iowa State football game and many other prizes for Shop Yukonopoly contest entrants.”

BE THERE OR ELSE
Anyone who purchases a keepsake Yukonopoly board game will receive 20 entries in Thursday night’s prize drawings.
“If their name is drawn, they must show their ID to win the prize,” North pointed out.
To support the Yukonopoly project, Yukon Chamber businesses purchased sponsorships for all 42 spaces on the game board – along with different denominations of the “play” money, the front and back of all deed cards, specialty cards, and more.
The front of the box features a photo of the iconic “Yukon’s Best Flour” grain elevators on Main Street.
Some 32 civic-minded volunteers comprise the Yukon Chamber Ambassadors, which is a branch of the local chamber of commerce.
“We go out and visit with members and help with chamber and community projects,” North said. “We’re always looking for more volunteers.”
The Yukon Chamber Ambassadors provide food-filled backpacks for students over Christmas break, donate gift cards for domestic violence victims and participate in outreach efforts at local senior facilities.
They regularly host “game nights” where people play Yukonopoly in a fun group setting.
The Ambassadors help the Yukon Chamber in its mission to “promote economic growth in the community through leadership, support and service to our members,” Chamber CEO Pam Shelton said.
