Canadian County Sheriff Chris West and members of his staff attended the Oklahoma Blue Light Ceremony service on Sunday, Nov. 5.

The Oklahoma Blue Light service to honor all of Oklahoma’s fallen law enforcement officers is held every year and conducted at Oklahoma’s Law Enforcement Memorial on the west side of the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety headquarters building in Oklahoma City.

Earlier this year, the sheriff’s office dedicated a newly established Canadian County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Memorial, located between the Canadian County Courthouse and the Sheriff’s Office alongside Highway 81 in El Reno.

The new memorial was made possible through public donations, and honors the memories of deputies Sam Farris and Justin Baxter, as well as Sgt. Gary Garrison and Lt. Shirley Lanning, who all sacrificed their lives while serving the citizens of Canadian County.
