Yukon Public Schools, in collaboration with Southwestern Oklahoma State University, has announced the launch of the Pursuing an Associates Through High School (PATHS) program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster educational advancement and college readiness among high school students.
The PATHS program offers select students at Yukon High School (YHS) an extraordinary opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree from SWOSU concurrently with their high school diploma. This initiative focuses on first-generation college students, students of color, and those eligible for free-and-reduced lunch programs, aiming to create a broad and representative participant group.
Key features of the program are:
- Tuition-free education: PATHS is offered at no cost to the students accepted into the program.
- Summer commitment: Participants are required to engage in summer coursework, ensuring a continuous and immersive educational experience.
- Expert faculty: SWOSU faculty involved in the program are seasoned experts in their respective fields, providing students with high-quality, real-world educational experiences.
- Supportive environment: Both YHS and SWOSU are committed to creating a supportive academic setting that nurtures student growth, enabling them to complete both high school and college education simultaneously.
ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION
The program is open to students entering the 10th grade in fall 2024 (Class of 2028). Ideal candidates are those who demonstrate academic potential and a strong desire to advance their education early.
