A southwest Oklahoma City man accused of gunning down a 7-Eleven store clerk from Yukon during a robbery last week remains in the Canadian County Jail without bond.

George Lorenz Way, 21, who lived just outside of Yukon city limits in the 11500 block of SW 15, is jailed on complaints of murder and robbery in the early Thursday death of clerk Laura Taylor.

Taylor, 30, was working at 7-Eleven, 1601 S. Mustang Road, about 2:30 a.m. Thursday when Way robbed the store. Police said Taylor went outside, and she was shot and killed. Video surveillance of the homicide will not be released by police, a spokesman said.

Way was arrested Thursday night by Oklahoma City officers and he was taken to the Canadian County Jail in El Reno.

“Great work by our detectives, patrol units and Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) for the quick arrest of 21-year-old George Way,” reads a social media post from the Oklahoma City Police Department.

A jailer Tuesday said Way was being held without bond on the murder complaint and a $25,000 bond on the armed robbery complaint.

Way had not been charged in Canadian County District Court Tuesday, said Assistant District Attorney Eric Epplin. Prosecutors are waiting on a full report from Oklahoma City police on the case to review before considering charges to file.
