Yukon High School’s Marching Band will head across the pond as invited guests at the 2025 New Year’s Day Parade and Festival in London, England.

This event is one of the most anticipated celebrations in the United Kingdom, and the YHS students were chosen to showcase their musical talents on this international stage.

A special invitation ceremony was Friday afternoon, Sept. 22 inside the Yukon Fine Arts Center, 850 Yukon Ave.

Yukon Public Schools welcomed a special delegation from England who made the formal announcement inside the auditorium. The group was led by Bob Bone, founder and chair of London’s New Year’s Day Parade and Festival.

Several hundred Yukon band members were there for the special invitation ceremony.

The Pride of Yukon Marching Band, under the direction of James A. Rivera, has consistently showcased excellence in musical performance and dedication to their craft.

Their selection to participate in London’s New Year’s Parade and Festival is a testament to their hard work and commitment to the art of music, YPS officials said.
