Southern Nazarene University (SNU) congratulates Yukon’s Ruben Reyes, outreach coordinator for Professional and Graduate Studies.

Reyes has been recognized by the chairman of the Oklahoma Hispanic Institute and Executive Board of Directors as a 2024 Honoree for the “Oklahoma City Area Top 40 Hispanic Leader Award”.

He and his fellow honorees were recognized at a lunch event on April 24 at the Oklahoma City Community College Visual Arts Center.

Reyes is a veteran of the United States Special Forces and is one of the few Hispanics earning both the Special Forces and Ranger tabs.

On the Southern Nazarene University campus, Reyes is a sponsor of the Hispanic LatinX Student Society. He also was instrumental in establishing a $20,000 SNU scholarship for the Miss Mexico Oklahoma Institute.

Reyes has a rich educational and professional history with SNU. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership in 2018 and his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2020.

After earning his MBA, Reyes was hired by the SNU VETS Center as their outreach representative before becoming outreach coordinator for PGS.

He is currently enrolled in the DEAL program to earn his Doctorate of Education in Administration and Leadership (Ed.D).

“I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition and I’m thankful that SNU has given me the platform to reach out to the Hispanic community for higher education,” Reyes said.

As a member of the Hispanic community, veteran, alum and employee of SNU, Reyes represents SNU’s dedication to diversity in education and educational equity.

His ability to build relationships and connect with Oklahoma City community members makes him an excellent leader.
